OnBoard Security Sponsors Boston University Automotive Cyber Security Research
Boston, MA, USA – September 12, 2017
OnBoard Security™, a subsidiary of Security Innovation and a world leader in connected vehicle privacy and security announced today that they are sponsoring the cyber security research of Boston University Professor David Starobinski.
Professor Starobinski has recently published his well-regarded research on Denial of Service (DoS) Attacks on internal automotive networks (the CAN Bus) and Cascading DoS attacks on Wi-Fi networks, which have relevance in the improved security of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and other intelligent transportation communications. He recently completed a sabbatical at the US Department of Transportation’s Volpe Center, researching the Secure Credential Management System (SCMS) used in V2V systems.
OnBoard Security’s sponsorship of Professor Starobinski’s research will include expert collaboration, resulting in jointly-authored papers in the areas of automotive Misbehavior Detection and Physical Layer Security.
“Professor Starobinski’s impressive research on the SCMS really caught my attention,” explained Dr. Jonathan Petit, Senior Director of Research at OnBoard Security. “With our expertise and his innovative ideas, this collaboration promises to yield exciting research in the field of automotive cyber security.”
"I am thrilled about the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Petit and his research team to address fundamental security and privacy challenges in the field of connected vehicles," said Professor Starobinski. "OnBoard Security has been at the forefront of this field, making significant contributions to the development of new cryptographic standards and methods to secure the integrity of sensor data. I look forward to pursuing a fruitful collaboration with OnBoard Security and thank them for their generous support."
